Two years ago, we began working with the inspiring people at Split This Rock on their website redesign. The new site launched in the spring of 2014, boasting a more visually engaging design, as well as a mobile-responsive layout and a more staff-friendly CMS.

After the launch, our work (together with the fantastic Rob Howard) continued behind the scenes on another aspect of the site: the poetry database. We designed it to be beautiful, useful, and easy for staff to maintain in-house. Now, after a year of tireless effort by Split This Rock—organizing, tagging, and populating the database—they were ready to launch “The Quarry” on June 25th. And they couldn’t have chosen a more appropriate way to celebrate: a joyful, inspiring, poetry-filled party at Busboys and Poets.

We’re so proud to have been a part of this incredible project. And we’re especially excited to help spread the word about this powerful and unique resource—which, in 24 hours, has already received the notice of the Washington Post, the Poetry Foundation and many others. We’re confident that this resource will benefit and inspire the entire social justice community, and invite you to grab a cup of coffee or tea, and check out The Quarry!
